Projects 2022-2023

Speak Mindfully | Vaish Khrishnan

PULSE’s mission focuses on meaningful interactions: conversations, actions, and behaviors that are informative and foster supportive environments. Last year, PULSE members developed and launched The Speak Mindfully Workshop, a step-by-step guide to understanding the dimensions to wellbeing, motivational interviewing, active listening, and ultimately setting up difficult conversations. We also incorporate a theme into each workshop to connect these skills to topics important to your student organization through scenarios / activities (theme examples from past workshops include patient interaction, conversations about mental health, and online learning). This year, we will continue to expand our workshop and present the workshop to more student organizations.

Food Insecurity Panel | Kaylee Chan

While PULSE has previously explored diet and holistic wellness, we wanted to take a Public Health approach with this project. Food insecurity is an issue around the greater United States, and we wanted to specifically focus on its effects on campus. Throughout the semester, we learned about some of the problems surrounding food at Michigan and brainstormed possible solutions from our perspectives as students. However, we recognized that we are not experts and in order to spread awareness PULSE planned a Food Insecurity Panel to include experts in the field in our discussion.
